Quilting Services

Basic Information

Forever's Treasures Quiltery is experienced in quilting over the 'net! Current turnaround time is approximately 4 weeks, but can vary due to unforseen circumstances - you could get it back a little earlier or a little later than that. Here are some tips to make the quilting go better for you AND for me!

Preparing a Top for Quilting

1. Be sure to press as you go when piecing your top, to eliminate lumps, bumps and shadows in all the wrong places! Be sure all threads are clipped, front & back.

2. When adding borders, measure your quilt top in the CENTER for length and add the side borders, then measure the center of the width, including those new borders and use that measurement for the top & bottom borders. As you sew, you may need to ease them on, adjusting as you go. This sounds like extra work, but it will give you a nice, flat top.

3. Quilt backings should be pieced, ironed, and measure a minimum of 4" larger than the top in BOTH length and width. This is because tops stretch more on the rollers than the backings do, and the extra size is needed for compensation in many cases.

4. Binding services are available. If you wish to have Forever's Treasures do the binding, you will need to provide sufficient coordinated fabric to use. No packaged binding, please. I cut bindings 2.25" for a French fold binding, so please send enough! Usually, you can allow 3/4 yd for twin to double, 1.25 yd for queen and 1.75 yd for a king. If you aren't sure, please ask!

5. My stock batting is Hobbs' Poly-Down in the 3.3 oz weight. This batting is included in the price of the service, and I have found it to be a VERY nice, all-purpose batting. However, if you'd like to have a different batting, please let me know - I can provide most any batt you'd like, or you are welcome to send your own. (There are a couple of brands I will refuse, though, due to excessive shredding when subjected to the rollers.) Battings other than the stock batting are subject to a batting surcharge.

6. When sending a quilt, please include a check or money order for 50% of the estimated cost of the quilting/binding. The remainder of the cost is due (along with return shipping & insurance) before the quilt is mailed back. You will be notified of the final amount after the quilt is finished and shipment will be made as soon as the final payment is received.
